NEW cold air intake kit ideas

There would be no difference in air temp/velocity between the headlight grills and brake ducts. if anything, the grills are better because of the high pressure area created just above the bumper (same concept as a lip spoiler, high pressure is created just above the flat plane). There's no point in routing the intake all the way down the to brake ducts, all it would do is suck up more shit from the road and create more complexity.Leave a comment:

if you can come up off of the brake duct like the evo's do that would be a good step. you are just trying to fill the area around the filter with as much cool/colder air as you can so that the colder air is available for the filter to take it in.
in the design that i got from you, the filter is still sitting in a closed off area. it still takes in air from the headlight and the stock location also.
by ducting from the top of the brake tube, you are just adding another source of colder air.
as far as a kit, i am not sure that your average r3v'er can handle doing a little modification to their cars to make it work. cutting a hole to run the air supply hose might scare some off.Leave a comment:

thanks, yeah I'm not going to bother with ram air.when I removed my filter and hose their was a sticker and a leaf sitting in front of the filter, good thing the foam filter is actually a filter and its really thick foam very similar to a dirt bike air filter. This is not a bad concept on the whole, dropping the tube as in the second drawing is probably your best bet...
To much possibility of picking up shit into the intake using the lower ducts...
Ram air induction doesn't work so well (and with an AFM works even worser-er) So I'd strongly recommend skipping any thoughts of that.Leave a comment:

anyway to create a vacuum effect without the vacuum...
ram air would be cool.Leave a comment:

Hey - what ever else is going to be said in this thread - I'll tell you this, I like your drawings. It really shows you put more than just a after though into this. Hats off to you. It's nice to see someone working towards backing up their claims.Leave a comment:

Looks good, the 2nd design is definitely superior. BeirBrenner, the intake velocity will not be high enough to be affected by that small little bend. Maybe if the air were moving at 200cfs, but at the relatively small velocities and volumes produced by our cars, it will have virtually zero effect.Leave a comment:

this would breath threw the OEM headlight shield but then it defeats the purpose of the kit. we want colder air not as cold air as the OEM setup.

brake vent would be easy but unless people are willing to cut into their car, that setup would also have bends in it.Leave a comment:

You want to see hp inprovements I think thats what you are going have to do.Leave a comment:

thats why I like my old filter setup so much, because the filter wasn't restricted to breath threw the bends that was just its supply of cold air, it could breath threw the sides and it was extremely good at filtering, in a test it filtered way more than any K&N filter. thats why any suggestions are welcome, I could just go straight to the grill but then their is modifying of the grill which most people don't want to do.Leave a comment:
