    new clutch, new shifter

let me start by just saying wow :D

the new clutch makes the car soooo much fun to drive again. i used to hate driving on the highway because i would hit the gas to speed up a bit and the clutch would slip like mad. it prolly should have been changed 6 months ago, i have no idea why i waited so long.

second lemmie thank my mechanic for the short shifter. i got him to put in a z4 lever while the tranny was out. the thows are sooo short and notchy now, i love it.the lever is so short that i cant even put my momo know down as far as it goes because the beaty ring on the boot hits the fat part of the shift lever. ill get some pics of the shifter throws tonight sometime. he also managed to remove all the slop from it, so it shifts like new.

anyone who says the 318 isnt fun to drive is welcome to take my car for a spin now.

    cool man...
I have a whole new clutch for m 325E including the slave and mater cyl's, z3 lever and bushings ready to go into my car once I get it into class... I can hardly wait, this clutch is almost impossible to depress, although I find myself driving the car everyday anyhow...

Ryan, throw away the Z3 lever, it's throw is no better than a stock lever shortened, the throw not changed, nor is the overall feel.

Get the Z4 2.5 it's cheaper, shorter, sportier and just feels good. My momo makes the shifter about a fist-width fro mthe console itself.

Huh? The distance from the ball to the knuckle that the selector rod goes through is much longer on a z3 1.9 lever than a stock lever. The throw is much shorter than stock, and it feels totally different. It's cool if you want a shorter throw and lower knob, but the z3 lever is a lot different than stock.

I know what I am doing... I have installed 4 Z3 shift levers and they are different than stock. Shorter tighter throws. This is my daily driver and I want easy shifting, just a better feel than the sloppy stock lever. I have my M3 if I want short tight throws I just drive that...
