    ASE Certification

Last November I figured I should take some ASE tests (http://www.ase.com/), so I signed up to take all 8 of them in the Automotive series. I didn't really know what to study so I just figured "If I don't know it, I don't know it" so I didn't study. I was felling like I had failed one or two tests, but I didn't. I passed them all. One of them I just snuck by but on the rest I did well. The other day I got this cool little thing in the mail:

I am pretty pumped on this. It's cool I passed all the tests.

Congrats! Taking all 8 in the same "session" sucks. I took 7 a couple years back, 4 one night, 3 another night.

I would imagine you had to take them, cause i know they aren't cheap and don't understand why someone would take them for fun. Try your hand at the L1 test, much more realistic IMO. I finally passed it last year and look forward to not having to take it for another 5 years. :D

I'm sure I could probably get a job somewhere but I'm not looking for one. I still have a few months of school left. In June I will graduate from Walla Walla University with a Bachelors degree in Automotive Technology. That is why I took the tests. It isn't required to graduate but I figured being certified wouldn't hurt.

I took all 8 in November, 4 on Thursday night and 4 on Tuesday night. I am thinking of taking the L1 test in the spring. Maybe I'll take the Alternate fuels and Diesel test too. I don't know. Depends on how much testing I want to do.

Congratulations! Every time I take the tests I think I'm going to fail, somehow I have squeaked by.

where can I get study guides for these tests? Suck you have to have experience to get the actual cert, but I want to at least pass the tests.

Haha, usually they have C and D too. I hate when technician A and technician B arent even talking about the same thing.

so I gather part or all of the tests are multiple choice?

                            yes, like this:

Blue smoke comes from the exhaust pipe of a vehicle.
Technician A says that blocked cylinder head oil return passages could be the
cause. Technician B says that a stuck open thermostat could be the cause.
                            Who is right?
                            (A) A only
                            (B) B only
                            (C) Both A and B
                            (D) Neither A nor B

it is frusterating, because in reality they are cramming two questons into one
