    New OBC reads PPPPPPP..?

Just got my car back from Progressive. I'm really not happy. They replaced parts and buttons in the dash that didn't needed to be replaced. They fit like shit, and function even worse.

They replaced my OBC (which worked fine after the break in) and now the only thing that works in it is the clock. All readouts that require a sensor either read "PPPPPPP" or "-------MPG/MPH/L/etc" I set the units to US standards but still no changes.

They also managed to make my heat not come out of the floor vents, and where it does come out it comes out 1/2 as hot as it used to. Somehow the center vents only blow cold... And the "new" vent controls they put in slide like they used small rocks for lubricant.

Ontop of that several panels within the dash fit crooked and the opposite of 'flush.'

It takes talent to F up a dash as bad as they did. No wonder it took them 3 weeks. Parts from Germany my ass. They also claim that they couldn't fix my dented window trim where the theft-er pryed my window...because the part is discontinued.

why the hell did you let progressive/a body shop touch interior parts? They are easy a hell to replace.

Because I pay for theft insurance...
And there were electrical issues after the low life ripped my dash apart and radio out - I don't like touching electrical issues.

I'm asking for the previous parts back. I'm not waiting another 3 weeks for them to order parts from germany...since apparently no one else in the US drives an 89 bmw

Take it back to the shop/insurance company, if they can't make it right (and by right, I mean exactly like it was before, no if's, and's, or but's) then simply tell them that State Farm or Geico look mighty tempting.

so you trust a bodyshop to do electrical work instead? I've seen some really fantastic bodyshops do piss poor electrical work because they know nothing about the car.

All harnesses for the center console/etc are replaceable for pennies on the dollar.

I'd start pulling stuff and inspecting what they did.

I can see everything they did. There's no radio installed. I can see the shitty heat controls not working correctly.

You should see the parts list and how much they apparently paid for the parts.
                Hazard button - $75
                OBC $900+
Quoted me $1200 for a stock radio. Fuck that. Like I've got a briefcase full of cassettes I can't wait to jam out to.

Why did you let progressive determine your shop at all? I always demand the money and take my car to my bmw mechanic (or do it myself). I have progressive and I hate their shops.

You should file a claim against the shop and progressive, get more money and get it done correctly. The most important thing would be to have a certified bmw shop or dealer quote you and list all the defects caused by the other shop. A dealership would probably be best, and make sure to get a signed, full list of the improper installation, parts, and other defects. Don't let them f*** over your car like that.

Wow you got freaking ripped, I hope your insurance didn't go up, nor did you need to pay a deductible.

OBC is 40 - 60 bucks on the salvage yard market, 25 bucks on the private market, shit I have a box of Hazard buttons.

Yea, I realize that now. I've never actually made an ins claim that didn't end up in the car being totaled (2 vws), so I got hosed.

That's a good plan Texas. Probably going to do something along those lines.

Take that parts lists with prices, have a dealer write you a new list. Demand the total monies charged by original shop and use that money to pay for a dealership or certified mechanic and pocket the rest. Hell you could buy all the parts off BavAuto and buy a few new upgrades as well.

Hell, email that list to me, stephen.brody@gmail.com, I have a 13 button OBC with harness and code relay, hazard buttons, stock radio etc. I'll sell it to you cheap and you can have a mechanic to install it for you. I have a complete working 87 325is interior let me know what you need.

When they told me they quoted it at $1500 i almost shit my pants. I thought they were going to try to pull some bullshit to total my car. That wasn't happening. Instead they just ass fucked me. Paid my $50 deduct. and Ins will prob go up. Haven't heard bout that yet.

I'm still putting together a plan of attack.

Holy crap. I would've sold you a hazard switch for $50.

j/k, sorry, i know this must suck for you.

Let me know if i can help. I'll be parting out my DD very soon and should be able to hook you up with some interior/dash pieces if it comes down to you doing it yourself.

                              Thanks man, PM'd you back.

I just want my parts back. The only thing that was actually broken and needed to be replaced was the panel that holds everything, and the hazard button lost a clip.

They replaced EVERYTHING in that center dash though. Why would you do that? Unless they did it to hose progressive out more money (a shop did the work).
