    Spywhere, pop-ups, oh-my !!!

Yea, I run a firewall - (one software and another "hardware" router firewall. Keep getting hit with these ad machines that ruin my pc after a while.

Any why to avoid these puppies

Running nortorn AV, firewall, on XP pro, with the google pop up blocker.

Do a search for Lavasoftr Ad Aware, or spybot, they usualy destroy most if not all spyware on your comp.

Lavasoft and Norton are looking to consumate their civil union in San Francisco.

Seriously, both of those programs suck, drop them like a chick with a kid and use a real client.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Spybot is your friend when it comes to spyware removal. For AV, run Mcaffee enterprise or AVG.

Yesterday my computer wouldn't stop with the pop-ups, I ran Spyware and it found about 50 things. Still didn't stop the pop-ups. Ran Ad-aware and it found almost 400 threats. After running Ad-aware the pop-ups stopped.

The best thing to do is go to control panel and go to add/remove programs and remove all you can.

Then go to start>run and type "msconfig" without " and click the start up tab and disable everything that is not yours.

Then open up task manager(ctrl+alt+del) find all the spyware ".exe" files, which are disguised as windows files and search for the "aolimfuckyoucomp.exe" and delete them.

Next go to start>search and type in "*.pf" and delete all the prefetch files.

Then download this program to double check. http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

scan your comp and have the program delete them.
          (program has updates too.)

Mozilla doesnt remove spyware. All it does is block pop ups.

or you can just run a pop-up blocker and a decent firewall and use caution on uncharted waters...

                    SSSShh..

Damn you and your common sense.

Run multiple file sharing programs, install every AIM add-on you can find, click "ok" on every IE popup & permission you get. Visit porn & Warez sites on a daily basis, and make sure to click on all their popups as well.

Then bitch about how it's somehow Microsoft's fault that you thrashed your comp.

System Mechanic by Iolo Technologies bitches. Download the trial from ZDnet.com and run it for the rest of your lives because it is such a beautiful thing. Also included is a pop-up blocker and other little goodies like registry scanner, windows startup manager, etc...

                        Eww.

XP has all of these things built in, tossing more third party nonsense on top of it is only an invitation for further problems.

I just started using mozilla firefox. I couldnt be happier. I used to get a metric ass load of popups with IE, but now nothing. I also use spybot and ad aware.

im pretty sure service pack 2 is just fine. most 3rd party programs like to be sneaky.
