I'm new to this forum and have joined in hoping of fizing a problem that I'v had for a while. When you get on it or floor the car the engine cuts out around 5000k RPM's. It does this in just about every gear and does not do it if you slowly accelerate up past this point. It mainly just doest if you hammer it or floor it. I have done alot of work to this car lately and really am stumped about this problem. The things I've done to it this summer include dinan chip, scorpian exhaust, k&n intake, new rotor and cap, fuel filter, oxygen sensor, spark plugs, manifold gaskets, thermometor, new air flow meter, manifold gaskets and much more. I suspect that it could be the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator. Anybody got any ideas or had this problem???

Well, it's certainly a fuel delivery problem. If it were me, I'd replace the pump, regulator, and rebuild the injectors. It probably needs it anyways - and then everything would be fresh."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."

I believe people have had the same issue in E28s, and I *think* they claimed it to be an ECU problem. Not sure though, so don't want to spread misinformation.Originally posted by BillBraskyE36's are the Stephen Baldwin of the 3 series family. Our cars do not like to be run hard around turns when low on fuel(1/8 tank) or they can experience fuel starvation at high rpm. Might seem obvious but sometimes people forget.sigpic

Could be lots of things... But.
I have seen bad output stage transistors (and solder joints at the same) in the DME do exacly this...
No one could ever give me an explanation as to why the symptom presented like this though.

Interesting, if I didn't see your screen name I would have thought this to be my post from a couple months ago.
I had the exact same problem. (I've also got the Dinan chip and Scorpion exhaust).
I replaced the fuel filter and it went away. It seemed to go away before that though...
Makes me skeptical to whether it was the filter or not. You replaced yours though so maybe not.
I got the Wolverine model apparently.

:D I finally decided to take the car to a professional and after an hour of work he discovered that it was a faulty MAF Sensor. I had recently replaced it and napa warentied it. I put the new one in and the car runs better then ever before. Goes to redline and idels and starts smooth even at 28 degrees.
