Someone give this thread life and then immeadiatey burn it. Everytime I turn on Speed Channel, some NASCAR or NASCAR-related program (e.g. pre-race, post-race, "OMIGAAHH DALE JR'S GOIN' TO THE BATHROOM!!," etc.) I tried to have an appreciation for NASCAR, I tried to look at it as an endurance series, but Speed Channel has single-handedly ruined the sport.

i tried to do the same. even went to a couple races... witnessed a pathetic and disgusting group of people. Sat there watching them, trying to figure out what they were doing there. Realizing that they didnt know either. I dont think the majority of them know what racing is about.

Im trying to go to Bristol this season, maybe I can find some of these nieanderthals.

Short track Nascar racing is the only Nascar worth watching (in person). Highly recommend Bristol if you can ever get a chance or tickets.

Agreed. I ran a 5k on Daytona Int'l when I was getting recruited for Cross Country. I cannot explain how enormous that track is. In the AM, the mist prevented me from seeing one end of a straight away to the other end. I really want to stay close too, so Bristol is a close jaunt.

It's Speed's (and Fox's) overexploitation of NASCAR that really drives me up the wall. Give me some WTCC or DTM to offset Darrell and Darrell talking about "bump draftin'".
