    e28 What's the deal?

    Hello fellow drivers,
I am contemplating and e28. I would love to hear some opinions about the strengths and weakness of this particular model. I would also love to hear why you think I should get an e30 instead. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. My future hangs in the balance.

    Go to www.mye28.com.

Do some research guy. We would not be biased to E30 if we were not on this forum. Do some research yourself and make your own decision because in the end it doesn't matter what we say.

Go test drive well maintained examples of both cars and make a decision based on that. Only you can decide which car fits your needs.

ive owned a ton of E30s, since 1992, and a shitload of other BMWs in the meantime...

                      two E36 M3s, one E21 320iS, one E46 M3, one E46 325iT, one E46 325xi, one E46 323i, one E34 540i, and a few other randoms, and nothing has come close to the handling and style of the always faithful E30 325is.

ive had the urge, recently, to pick up an E28, just for the sake of practicality, but thats really the only thing that attracts me to them... they look like a giant E21 with 4 doors.

i have two kids, so it seems logical that i should own one... but, unless you're a parent, or a big fat dude, i really see no point in owning one, when there's lighter, faster and arguably cooler looking options for the same money.

What about the E28 M5? There is arguably no cooler or more raw sport sedan in existence.

The M5 is a whole different ballgame in my eyes, but they're 5x more money than most e28s around here. I looked at e28s when in the process of buying my e30, they are cheap and readily available around here but for me they're too big and squishy. note: I did not drive any 'is' or 'm' models.

I tried a few E28's and they are OK. Many of the guys that have been around BMW for years and years think they are the best build car that BMW has made. I don't feel that way myself. They are big and if you need to haul a bunch of crap around they work great for that. Some of the parts interchange with the E30 so you will need less in the way of spare parts on the shelf than say what a truck would require.

E28s are so rugged and dependable I have a hard time thinking of a better old car to own. I'm selling mine to a friend but I doubt I'll go long before I start looking for another one...

Edit: Everyone who thinks they are too big and squishy needs to go drive one. They don't feel big and they certainly aren't squishy...
