if youre a bodyguy and you cant match white, you really need to do summn else.

Silver is the worst. I can think of at least a half dozen silvers from various makes that have several "alternates". Everything looks terrific until you pull it out into sunlight.

I most certainly had 1989 Schwarz with unpainted flat black palstic bumpers, unpainted flat black is not DS ;)

Just take the gas cap to the nearest body shop supply store. They will match it as long as you get at least a quart. $50-100 depending on brands like OMNI, PPG whatever.

DO NOT DO PAINTSCRATCH. They can't properly match pre-clearcoat colors. Alpine white (I) is a very slightly yellowy white. They think it is tan.

As far as e30 colors that are hard to spray/match actually one of my instructors used to be a painter at a BMW dealership in the early 90's and HATED bronzit because of how the metallic sprays, to consistently get it the right wetness and avoid the flakes standing up on end if too dry. Anyway, I thought it was funny he didn't like bronzit either.

+1 for paintscratch.com, I just ordered some Alpine White II from them recently and was happy with the results. Although, I think there should be a formula that takes into consideration current paints oxidation levels :)

I find that Rustoelum automotive gloss white is pretty close after some dirt and dust settles onto the car.

My friend got his integra painted pure white, and it looks like my car (alpine 88) but just a little brighter. He was actually a little disapointed because he thought pure white will have a whole different effect. Its actually not that special. But a shop should be able to identify the mixture of what is in alpine white. They got computers for that.

What was that one website that sold factory specific paint in spray cans? I would go there if I could recall the site.
