    Early knee-bolsters.

I'm guaging interest in early knee bolsters (pre 88). I'm going to make a fiberglass mold for these and produce them for r3v and possibly other e30 sites. Just seeing how many interested parties I can gather. I'd imagine price to be less than $50, plus shipping, for a completed piece.

    Thanks in advance,

    AJ

Wrap all my things in aluminum

Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

For $50 I would just buy a late model knee bolster. They are much nicer.

I was actually quoting that including shipping, below 50. It may even be less. Like I said, just gauging interest. I'll make mine first, then post pics.

I'd be interested. I have a late model bolster at the moment, and I heard I'd have to cut it to make it work. I'm not doing that, and of course finding a decent early model one is difficult. I'd be interested if you can make one that looks identical to the OE one, otherwise, I'd probably pass.

        Keep us updated.

What are the differences between early and late?

The late model car has a metal brace under the dash. The knee bolster and the underdash panel are 2 separate pieces which both attach to the metal brace.

to the op - what about the safety of a fiberglass bolster? At one time I was going to make one of these myself but visions of me wrecking and getting knees full of fiberglass scared me out of it.

You don't need to cut it. You just need the little plastic piece on the bottom of the steering column from a car with a late bolster.

I just got into a small e30 fender bender. It hit an escalde.... Anyways I didn't even touch the bolster I actually hit my head on my roof which hurt like a bitch. I don't think there is much of a safety issue with these being made out of fiberglass. I'm more afraid of smashing my face on my steering wheel.
