    good deal?

I have a good feeling it is, but figured id ask the experts. I called a shop to set up service on my 86 325e. The guy at the shop said he's got a chip for my car that he will sell for $125 including install. I Dont know who made it though. said itd add about 20 hp.

Its probably an ebay chip, which you can pick up for like $30. Buy one and install it yourself.

well i doubt they will tell you up front that its an ebay clone chip, so i would ask if its authentic, whatever it is.

i didnt tell them one way or the other if i wanted it or not. Im going there on monday to drop my car off and figured id ask to see it to check out the brand name on it.

second question.... are these things even worth it as an upgrade? im not looking for performance otherwise i would have bought an i.

basically just need to know if thats a decent deal, and what brand or brands i should avoid.

Installing a chip is as easy as making a bowl of cereal.

I have no idea. didnt think to ask as i really had no intention of doing a chip on my car. I know its not hard to do, i just never really planned on it.

People including myself have reported small gains (1-2) in mpg. The drivability is vastly improved, I think it's the best mod on e cars bang vs. buck. I'd absolutely buy it if it is from a reputable manufacturer ie: not ebay or dinan.
