    Cabrio top flap lift struts

    UPDATE: see third POST

Well i finally found a cheap source of the top flap struts

    on egay

i got them today..they actully have the BMW part number printed directly on the side and "325"

they are made by ESI..and have german writing in them

they also have the NM rating of 180...this matches the parts fische notation

btw..180 NM is about 135 foot pounds! i never knew they were supposed to be that strong!

hope this helps...ive seen a few people looking for these for less than 30 or so bucks a pop.

      BAD news

The struts fit the car fine but do not
allow the lid to close. They are the same length as the origanls that were
in place but do not collapse as far. The originals collapse unitl the the
top strut eylet is about 4 mm from the top of the cylinder, the above units will hit an internal stop with the eylet about 1 inch from the tube.

THe lid is about 2 inches from closing fully.

I emailed the seller, we will see what happens

      BUMMER!!!
