    New guy

Hi all, I just bought a 1985 325e that is in really good shape. It needs a little work but nothing too bad. So far this car is really nice, fun to drive, neat looking, and easy on gas. I paid 1500 for it, great deal imo as it has no rust, no dents, no damage history, low miles for the year, everything works except the moonroof and pass side window.

I want to mod mod mod.. what are some cost effective things to get me started here?

Searching is key here, but before you mod, make sure it is in tip-top running order. Things to replace are timing belt, waterpump, and and all the bushings you can. Good Luck!

water pump and timing belt was done less than 1k miles ago, bushings all feel solid except the shifter.

          I'll get pics soon.

suspension. Also, I've heard eta's benefit a lot (comparatively) to other cars.. check out some options with that. Be sure to bu a real chip though, it's worth it in the end to get the original and support the few guys that are developing performance parts for cars most people disregard.

the car runs top notch, only mechanical problem is the shifter is sloppy, bad bushings i would guess. i bought the car from a die hard bmw guy, who also bought it from a die hard bmw guy, its been babied big time and cared for religiously. from what i've been told its only seen about 4-5 winters since it was bought new on January 25th 1985, that would explain the rust free body.

Im really looking forward to modding the hell out of it

welcome. are you talking performance mods or visual mods?
here are some simple mods/upgrades you can tackle for next to no cash. these are very basic mods that a lot of people do. you might not want to do them if you like the chrome. remember when you mod your car you do it for you not for others. i say this because no matter what you do an how good it looks some guy on r3v will tell you its shit! lol
                      1. bumper tuck (free)
                      2. shadowlined trim (just buy paint)
                      3. black out the grill "
now if you want to spend some money search around the forum and see if you can pick up some lowering springs and some struts on the cheap. then go for some steal braided brake lines and some better brake pads. then some rims and tires. those are some basic upgrades.

I'm planning on doing the bumper tuck asap and getting rid of the chrome around the windows when it warms up enough to paint. Im leaving the grill.. i like the grill chrome lol.

I want to keep it looking clean, no body kits etc, mostly performance stuff.

Its dirty right now... freak snow storm wednesday got her dirty, so no pics till she's clean.

Moonroof or sunroof? If moonroof, that's worth 1/3 the cost of the car haha nice find though and welcome

its got a moonroof yes, but it seems to be stuck closed with the back end of it tilted down a little bit. I'm going to try to get it to work. what do you mean its worth 1/3 the car?
