    letter from iraq

i know it isnt not e30 related. but its my best friend and i wanted to share. maybe you guys have emails youd like to share.

the sand just got a lot better. I finally got up north into iraq on monday
night the 30th. It took us two days to travel through iraq and all the
checkpoints and camp stops. We got lucky in our convoy, we didn't see any fire
or ied's from the dumbasses, but the convoy behind us got shot at and got rpg's
fired at a couple of our vehicles, but their shots missed. I'm now in Mosul,
Iraq, it is a little cooler up here and there isn't as much sand blowing around
on us. It is pretty exciting up here because we are at the mosul international
airport, and pretty much in the middle of neighborhoods. They shoot mortars
into the camp everyday, they shot 13 rounds into our motor pool and hit like 8
vehicles that we got to repair. I'm doing pretty good and i've got to go.

    Smell ya later,
    Adrian

Its crazy how you can never let your guard down. A friend had a RPG land about 10 feet from his window. They disabled it and then started taking stupid pictures with it. Was good to see that they could keep thier morale up considering....
      Im now E30less.

Is your friend a mechanic? Sounds like it...

One of my closest friends joined right after we graduated this year, he called me and, said he finished basic training on wed. and starts his mechanic training pretty soon. He said he's getting a laptop, good thing since their shipping him to Iraq in march.

My brother was there for a year (near Baquoba) and came back a few months ago. He told me a story about how he and his men secured a farmhouse in the middle of the night and ended up sleeping there. When he woke up, he was less than 2 feet away from a land mine. Scary stuff.
