    e30 Registry

Was thinking, How fun would it be to have an e30 registry, like many Corvette and Porsche special models have. You know, something to track the amount of us still surviving on the road...

Could somehow start one of these? Using last digits of VIN? I'd love to know where all my car's siblings from assembly line ended up.

Something like this would definitely need a huge database and require the current owners to register their cars on the site. It's quite a simple form really and could easily be built. The complicated end comes in the search form, and how to make this information useful and accessible to everyone. I think its a great idea, I'l keep it in mind, maybe it'd be a fun project to work on when I'm not building sites and apps for clients. (or working on my car)

It would be awesome, at least 80% of running e30s are in enthusiast hands. Other 20% will either be owned by enthusiast soon, be parted by me, or rust away at a junk yard.

R3V is internationally known, and it would probably the best place to get something like that going.

I'd register my car in a minute. Id love to have this info at my fingertips but I don't feel like spending the time to start it. There's got to be someone with the skills and know how and most importantly.. the time!

                  well, anyone?

Come on people, this would be so much fun, we'd know how many e30s are actually in hands of enthusiasts...

We can even have small funerals for cars that are forever gone, because I still have titles to all parts cars I've owned.

I'll take on the task of researching and building it but I probably won't be able to launch it till mid to late May because I have a bunch of client websites to finish, two operas to perform and a convention at the end of April.

It would be a great project for a few of the r3v coders to get together and work on it together. I could definitely use the help. Let's get this going!

Problem is they have such a small sampling. Look at the sampling on the 2002 registry. .032%

I definitely like to get a mix between the two sites, maybe pull some sponsors for the site (like r3v....) The easiest thing for me to do would be to find an already built php system and modify it. That would cut down the vast majority of time for the project (something of which I have very little of). If there are any other web designers or developers on r3v, pm me if you're interested in doing a collaborative project to get this site up and running. I can host and register domains no problem, unlimited space and bandwidth FTMFW!!!!
