Did shipping prices spike or am I just getting screwed?

A few months ago, I was able to send an Mtech I spoiler via UPS from New Jersey to San Francisco for $16.

Today, UPS quoted me $25 for an iS spoiler from SoCal to NorCal. What gives?

Any tips or help is appreciated, because I have to send an entire valence, too, and at this rate will end up paying about twice what I got for it to ship it two states over.

I think you probably triggered UPS's dimensional weight threshold. There was a rate increase on 1 Jan as well. That valance will be very expensive to ship, I think it will go as Oversize 2 if you carefully size the box.

I think it's because of our great economy, keeping prices higher to make up for lost business.

I worked for DHL awhile back and the biggest complaint about the competitors is that, they are good at what they do but their prices are always skyrocketing.

Prices went way up. Since DHL is no longer around Feded has raised there prices about 20%
I used to pay 15-20 to ship a front plastic bumper. Now its like 45.00

                That is irritating.

Which one is generally best for bulky but fairly light items; UPS, FedEx, or USPS?

ups charges $55-60 to ship side skirts, USPS usually charges only $28.

Tell me about it, Side skirts used to be like 10-15 and now they are like 35.
Its crazy. I even have a Fed-ex account and prices are still crazy.
Like I take all of my packages to Fed-ex and they weigh and measure them there.
Say they charge me 8.00 to ship something and about a week later the charge shows up on my bank account and its like 8.75
I call fed-ex and ask about it and they say that when I take it there to ship it that the price is just a "quote". So I bitched at then about it and tell them to explain how they figure it is a quote when THEY measure and weigh them.
Lady didnt have much to say and they refunded some of my charges.
So if you have an account. Watch what they charge you.
I usually just pay with my debit card now and say fuck the account.
                      I hate shipping companys. :hitler:

I recently shipped out an M3 rear wing to WA. UPS quoted me $100 to ship it. USPS Priority ended up being $45 including insurance and delivery confirmation.
