I suppose after 260,000...it has to happen

Since I've owned my 318, about 3.5 years, it has never left me on the side of the road. Unfortunately, tonight, on my way back to school, 50 miles into the 60 mile trip, at about 12:45am...I noticed I burned 1/4 tank of gas in about 3-4 miles...and then the smell of fuel. I pulled it over, turned it off, and saw fuel spewing coming under the engine bay. Using a cell phone for a flashlight sucked, but I spotted a broken fuel line. The tow company wanted $85 to tow the car 8 miles back to my school. So I gimped it 1.5 miles to a gas station, now with the gas light on and almost out of fuel. I had to leave the car at the gas station and have a friend pick me up. It's the line that runs from the fuel rail to the chassis fuel line, so it shouldn't me too difficult to replace.

    Fun times

Sorry to hear about that Stu. At least it's nothing major. But then again, I guess nothing could be too major for a McHenry. :D

had the same one go out about a year ago, some genius decided to forego using zipties and ran it right by the steering coupler, d'oh...

Yeah, I walked out to my car this weekend when picking up my girlfriend and was suprised by a nice puddle of fuel under the car from behind the drivers door.

The hardest part will probably be getting those damn clamps off if that line is like the ones by the filter and then putting the new hose on.

That's a bitch, but doesn't sound too bad. If only everyone could complain about stranding once in 3+ years....compliment to E30s.

I just got the car back to campus, just had to pick up some high-pressure fuel hose and replace it. From the looks of it, some part of the steering shaft burred a hole through that hose.

Ryan, that hose was new at the time of the swap, it just wore through. I tied the new fuel line away from the steering shaft, so hopefully I won't run into this again.
