Attn: BMWCCA members, I need your help!

I saw another post awhile back that asked a similar favor in another forum.

I'm looking specifically for a 91 318is and have looked extensively in the autotrader, cars.com, recycler.com, yahoo, local paper classifiedes, bmwcca regional chapter forums etc. and almost everywhere imaginable with no success in finding one in very good to excellent condition.

Would a BMWCCA member that receives the Roundel let me know if they see any listings in the Roundel classifides for a 91 318is? I live in southern California but am willing to travel and pay $$$ for the right car.

    Thanks!

If you can find it, the car you want is going to have a price of ~$5k.
Why not 'settle' for a local no-rust Cali car that's in decent shape for $2k and spend the extra thousands on nice paint and new seats. Yeah, I guess I'm just stating the obvious, but it's not like you are looking for a highly collectible E30 M3 that someone is keeping in his garage 350 days of the year. I'll wager that a $2k paint job will make an average E30 look better than any you can find that have weathered 14 years.

I have thought about that but and beleive me if I could find a decent no rust car for 2K I'd be on that like flys on stink but an E30 318is goes for $3-4 K here easy. For example a red 91 318is in San Diego was selling for $3800 with very low miles, 84K. However, the body was jacked major dents had been pulled out and there were wobbles on both sides of the car. I'm looking locally but getting frustrated and impatient.

                  Thanks for the tip though.

I just saw your thread on paint jobs; so I see that you have considered this option.
Consensus on the M535i discussion list was that a BMWorthy paint job can be had for ~$2000. I don't think it would cost more to paint an E30 than an E28.

Good that's what I was hoping for about 2K for a good paint job using factory spec paint.
