    318is

Hi guys, I'm looking at getting a first car soon and I've always been a fan of how e30's looked and I've heard they run great and are great fun to drive. So my Dad and I looked at a very clean 318is and i loved the exterior it was in very good condition with only 140,000 miles on it. The only problem was the interior it was in very good condition for an e30, it just looked so old and dated.

My family has always been a BMW family and we've own an '89 735il and a '91 750il, i was expecting the interior to look a bit more like those, but sadly i was mistaken. I attribute some of the oldness to the fact that the car had just been sitting for about 4-5months.

So what I'm asking is should i keep my faith in e30s and take another look at this one, i would change the CD face to a much more modern one and update a few things. I'll post some pictures and hopefully you guys can help me out.

Im sorry but I dont understand what you wrote...

All I can say is that car is sweet as the recent kissing picture in the Offtopic thread.

What were they asking for it?

To be honest i'm not actually sure what I'm asking, those were just some thoughts i had in my head, they are asking $5500 for the car. It's grown on me quite a bit just thinking about it and I am going to go see it again this weekend with my brother, I suppose i just answered my own question.

Buy it now before I come out to SF and buy it myself. Not for 5500 though.

WTF are you talking about!? That car is perfect! Buy it now before I fly over form australia, steal $5500 from you, buy the car and drive it to your house.

What do you expect in the interior of a car 20 years old? This is no big old luxury barge like your daddy's 750. This is a small lightweight sports sedan. Look at the interiors of other 20yo cars an put it in perspective. This is a contemporary leather interior. You've got an onboard computer, electric windows, fuel ecconomy guage, Air conditioining, adjustable leather sports seats, even airbags.
I think get your self an m-techII wheel and leather gaiter set, loose the dash mat (if it's not cracked), install a new stereo if you must, and you done

Sorry for my bias, but I LOVE the e30's interior, period correct, yet classy and sporty.

              DO IT

That's a great car, but not a first car. It is just too good for that. Most peoples' first cars get destroyed in reletively horrendus and completely avoidable accidents; that car does not deserve that fate. If you want to buy an e30 as your first car, buy an eta, or at least something that isn't in showroom condition.

Red is not my color, but it looks to be in really good shape.

                    BUY IT NOW!

but I actually agree with one of the above posters about this being too nice of a car for a first car. find one in rougher shape.

Thanks everybody for showing me the error of my ways making it very clear that e30s are wonderful cars. I am also starting to agree with the above posters about how this is too nice of a first car, but it's so nice that i'm going to disagree :nice:.

This is a different 318is that i'm looking at. It has considerably more miles, 212,000 compared to 140,000, but it's also half the price, $2800 asking.

Keep the comments coming you've all been very helpful:
