is300 did originate from the 4 banger altezzas. But Altezza is just one of the few rwd sedans. For some reason, rwd cars from japan never really make it over to N.A.

l-tuned is a ugly bodykit that is released by North American lexus, they also have springs, and cat-back. It's purely cosmetic, i dont even know why l-tuned exist.....

As of the 2jz-gte swap, its not terribly un-common. The IS300 engine is pretty much the exact same as the non-turbo supra engines.
The swap would be cool, but there's quite a lot of turbo kits and supercharger kits, if you drive an IS300, you have a long list of performance options.

IS430 equipped w/ 6spd would be cool, i remember like a year or two ago, there was a rumour that Lexus would release the IS430, but i stopped following all that, so who knows whats happening.

L-tuned kits are not that bad, however i would rather sport the stuff sportline puts out for is300s.

A RWD Altima/Maxima platform would be nice...then they can really make an SE-R package instead of that marketing hype that's gonna come out in a few months.

Greg- I agree, and I think its coming, look at the US cars, RWD is making a comeback, I think Japan will start to do the same thing, only better. They have fucking AWESOME motors, rivaling anything coming out of Germany until you get super high end, and with the drive layouts more conducive to great balance and spirited driving, we will see some radical car wars in the next few years
The new AWD acura RL looks pretty sick, maybe a view of things to come from now on.

Yeah I know, but it looks more like an appearance/cosmetic package than anything else. I hope Nissan makes a real car out of it instead of just taking advantage of the name. Dodge's R/T really had a good image until they started coming out with crap like the Intrepid and Stratus R/T. (Fortunately they fixed that by introducing the SRT name, but I digress).

no actually the IS engine is an updated engine. It's like saying that the 318is engine for E30 and E36 is the exact same. There's minor differences. That's why I said "it's pretty much exactly the same."

The L-Sportline kit looks great, but there I know that there was fitment issues (just like any aftermarket kits i suppose)... L-tuned fits perfect, but then again, L-tuned is a factory option, so it is expected to be.

I wouldn't take either (or any luxury car) out of warranty. But if I had to choose It'd be a BMW. I don't know much about the E46 but my brother's E36 M3 and my former 91 318is were the most dependible cars I've ever driven. That includes the 6 Accords that my parents have owned. A co-worker of mine has an IS300 and it's expensive as hell to fix.
