Oh, man! I just missed the Cash for Clunkers.

Man, how cool that Prius could have been... I always miss out. :)

I think I'm gonna park the 325 in the trunk of the Bel-Air. :D

Or you could just trade it in with Cash for Clunkers and get a sweet new Prius.

Oh wow man really? That's awesome. My vote is make it a slow restoration process. Do your homework first and do things right. That could be an amazing ride.

I'd say get on the old Chevy forums asap and take in the knowledge.

    Some inspiration for ya:

    :)

It's not a low mileage BMW or anything, but...

I was recently given my great-grandfather's 1960 Bel-Air 4-door. He bought it new in '59, was diagnosed with cancer and died 4-5 years later. My great-grandma didn't drive, so the car sat in a garage for 20 years. Then, my grandfather and uncle moved the car to New Jersey, where it sat in a garage for another 25.

The car has 30k mi on it. The clear plastic floor mats and seat covers have never been off. The interior looks like it was assembled yesterday! I'm going to be moving it to PA in the next couple of weeks.

I didn't have my camera with me when I went down last time, but I'll post pics soon.

I can't decide what to do with it... Clean it up and show it as a 'survivor', or could I get away with restoring and actually driving it? What about updating the brakes and suspension to make it safer? Would that be sacrilege? It is a 4-door after all- it's not like I'd be driving around in an all-original bubble top 409. What do you guys think?

Jesse James is a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles. I respect his bikes but his new "Jesse James Is a Dead Man" reality tv show ruined his "bad ass" reputation.

I've seen worse cars brought back from the dead.

If it is indeed a #'s matching car, it's worth 6 figures after a full body off resto, although I don't believe GM introduced the "Muncie Rock Crusher" tranny until the late 60's and I don't know if any Corvette came with a 4.56 rear end. Maybe a ZL-1 or L88, but those too were introduced in the late 60's.

I also saw this same car on corvetteforum.com about 5 years ago.

I wonder what ever happened to it.

It looks like the fenders were cut to make way for those mud slingers too...:?
Someone also added an extra set of rear tail lights as well.

corvettes at carlisle was this weekend, and seeing not-so-rare, c2 shitboxes selling for 20G's made me sorta hate corvettes. that and people bringing c3's right out of the mud and asking 5 grand and giving a 'good luck with rust' testament.

its all about the numbers now.
