    crap oil filters

    so after being constantly disappointed with FRAM oil filters, I decided this time around to use a Bosch 3241... Now I have weird little metal shreds float around in me oil...

    using 5w40 sythentic

    I like the Bosch filter. I have never seen metal flakes. In other news, your engine requires 20W/50 according to BMW, or maybe 15W/40 in the winter. I think your oil is too thin

      5w* is way too thin as well.

        How big are the metal shreds? That's definitely not a good sign. It is also the reason why they make magnetic drain plugs.

          agreed! However in the s52 I have been using BMW filters. Not sure who is the OE supplier.
