I replace my vert and it was w/ top and labor only 1000 including new straps. Also, like everyone else is saying don't reuse the straps. When you replace the top, replace the straps, it'll make things down the road easier.

Well I am not 100% sure what you mean but when I unclip the front and pushed the old roof to fold into the compartment it did so smoothly.

The only thing I had to do was push in the two folds of the strap which bowed out and everything seated in the compartment nicely.

Here are pictures of the eBay german cloth top i purchased.

Installation was done by Pacific Auto Trim in Vancouver. The shop told me to leave to top up for a week to let the fabric stretch out and all the glue dry before I fold it down for the first time.

After adjusting the passenger side window the glass clears the edge of the top and weatherstripping and seals perfectly.

Wow, that looks great! Is the rear window zip-in? If you ever need to replace it, is it the OEM size or do you need to order one from them?

I looked for a zip in window roof but I couldn't find one so I got a sewn in window roof.

What did the shop charge you to install it?

I just took a look on eBay for replacement BMW tops and they didn't come up at all.

However, I did see 'Rich and Famous' in Van Nuys had a top for sale for $350. I've seen their work in person & it was outstanding. It was a custom or prototype canvas as well...very cool. Great attention to detail.
