The worst car I have driven.

    Comment

Any Plymouth Voyager/Dodge Caravan, Chrylser Sebrings esp. the convertibles(don't open the door while it's on a lift), and the Neons.

1st gen CRV's & RAV4's, they both feel like garbage.

          Too many to list:

          An ex-gf's Pontiac Sunfire
          My mom's old Chevy Blazer
My cousin's 1st gen Eagle Talon
A number of horrible rental cars: Dodge Caliber; Chrysler Sebring; Nissan Versa; Chevy Aveo; Toyota Echo.

The worst of them all in terms of pure pig-sh1t design and build quality was the Sunfire, but at least that was a cheap car. The one the pissed me off the most was the Sebring, because that one actually pretended to be a real car.

I can almost see where you're coming from. If you just hop into an E30 M3 and casually drive it around the block a couple of times, you won't understand what all the fuss is about. It doesn't feel much different from a 318is, except that the engine is more chattery and you have to keep an eye on the water temp gauge so it doesn't overheat in traffic :p

But when you actually take one out on the track and push it hard, it all suddenly makes sense. The engine makes all its power at the top end. And you really notice how much lighter the front-end is compared to any E30 with an i6 under the hood. It turns in much more crisply than a regular E30. And, of course, the brakes hold up to a full session of track use without fading, the wheel bearings don't fail every other weekend, and the engine doesn't go pop due to oil starvation or snapped timing belts. You don't have to worry about valve float or broken rocker arms.

You don't appreciate how all of these little things make a difference until you really give these cars a work-out.

              1973 Super Beetle.

On the drive home from buying it it barely made it up a steep hill, backfiring and bogging down to 25 mph. Then the next day I drove it to get smogged (back when 66 was the smog cut off date in CA) and the smog guy told me all the smog equip had been removed from the car. I drove it right back to the guy I'd bought it from and he gave me my $ back.

Just because you don't fit doesn't mean it's a bad car.

there is a reason you never see any of these on the road anymore. funny how you see plenty of bmw's and mercedes' of this era but never these pieces of crap.

Worst car I ever drove was the Chevy Cruze... had a manual shift option on the autotragic box that, when left in any gear and run to redline, would let you bounce off the redline without shifting. Why give you the option to shift when you can easily destroy the engine/trans by not upshifting at the appropriate time???

Close second worst car ever was a dodge caliber with a CVT (continuously variable transmission) yikes

So you want an automatic transmission that you can shift manually but still shifts automatically?

That is exactly what I was thinking.

That's because you're too young. There were plenty around here in the early '80s. Tons of Renault 5s and 11s. You don't see many on the road today because they all rusted to sh1t or died in a fire.
