Why do they just go up like that? I'd be interested in one at ~$600, but $1200 is insane.

its very common with bmw. pricing is updated each month and one never knows whats going to happen. lots of stuff is fairly stable but once in a while certain items spike. then they come back down. i have not been able to figure it out. while list is about 1200 you can buy one now at about 1k
