        I posted pics of my vert when I hit a deer a couple weeks ago... it didn't look that bad but de-bowled the deer and literally cut it in half. Cop said this usually smashes the front beyond recognition. The reason is this according to my insurance adjustor: These older cars do not have built in crumple zones. Newer cars are designed to crumple to absorb energy rather than transfer it to the occupants.

        On another note, GearheadE30 where in IN are you?

                      were talking about a late 80s german car, not a yank tank from the 60s
                      the front of an e30 should crumple plenty

                      though id be worried in an accident, i think theres a good chance my car would wedge under the other
