Sold the E36 a while back, and rather than getting something newer like I thought, I went back old school.....I'll never learn. Really though I missed the E30, so for the last few weeks I have been looking at very poor examples that made me wish I had never sold mine.
Luckily I found a decent platform, that is solid in all respects that matter. It does need paint, but the plus side is that its Delphin, which is my all time favorite color, so when I respray it, we won't have to worry with the jams, under the bonnet, the engine compartment, etc. Maintenance wise the car is up to par, and the owner has provided tons of records with the car including the original window sticker for $32,xxx!!! Its always been a southern car, so there is little to no rust to speak of, especially is the suspect areas on E30s which are prone to rust...
The car itself is a 1987 325is so an early E30 with metal bumpers, but the PO put BMP plastic bumpers front and rear, Borbet Type C's, which arent really my cup of tea, but are good for now, and really starting to grow on me. I really like the BBS RS's, Ronal LS's, Konig Remembers, etc (if you know these wheels you know they're all the same design haha). EMS 002's may be a possibility but I really wish they had a 16x8. I also found a guy on here / bimmerforums that wanted to get rid of his Corbeaus for some sport seats so we did a bit of trading ;) Its on Bilstein HD's as well as E30M3 springs.
I have some decent plans for this car, but nothing outrageous, I have learned that no matter how fast a car is, there is always someone that has something faster!! So for this car, the M20 (2.5l 6) will stay in, and we'll work on first getting it up to par maintenance wise, then suspension and breaks, and after that maybe things for a bit more pep ie cams, chip etc. I say that, but in all honesty since I had the S50 sitting in the garage for the last car and sold it before doing the swap, I can def. see throwing a M52 in, as it is tons cheaper and could be FI for nearly the same cost as an S50.
As she sits:

Biggest thing it needs is paint/clearcoat!!!
First order of business:
I took out the cluster to fix the inevitable problem of the ODO not working...
First pic, if you look behind the orange gear in the foreground at the black gear (lower left and behind orange) it is missing about 5-7 splines.

Here you can see that a few of the solder pts are burnt or corroded (3 pts at bottom right of green area). Also at the top left of the green area there are 2 pts that look similar.

The last 3 are pics of the remnants of gears:

I got a new 13 button OBC, as my screen took a poop (you can see in the pics, my old one is on the left, the new one is on the right).

And here is the mess of installing the thing!! Unfortunately I have to take it back apart, because at some point I must have accidently unhooked the dash light for the right side of the AC panel and the OBC. I cant seem to find the plug that goes into the back of the light source for the OBC buttons, but there is a random plug (wire) that I have no idea what it connects to (last pic).
