The E30 has seen its last NE winter!

Admittedly I have been feeling increasingly worse about driving the E30 in the winter and subjecting it to the salt and pot holes of the New England winter. My wife and I are expecting our first child in January and she told me I had until then to part with one of my vehicles and buy something "family friendly" which loosely translates to something with four doors. My other vehicle is a 1990 C1500 long bed with a regular cab which can't get out of its own way in the winter and since I still needed something that can tow and haul...well I guess we all know which vehicle was going to go.

Anyway, landed a pretty good deal on the following 2008 GMC Sierra crew cab with 24K on the clock and just figured I'd share. It is big and comfortable, has pretty good amount of nut and fuel economy thanks to the Active Fuel Management (displacement on demand) and utterly boring to drive :) People at work can't understand how I got a new vehicle and after one day of driving it started showing up in my noisy, 20 year old car with no air-conditioning.

Ballin' Truck. I have always loved GM. My dad has a '97 Tahoe with 280k on the clock and still running strong.

My e30 will have no such luck

Not a fan of a the truck though, so big... yet the actual truck bed is so small.

Tell me about it! I'm coming from a truck with an 8 foot bed. But the only way I found I would get a standard sized bed with 4 full doors is to step up to a 2500 or buy an older Tundra (e.g. 04-06 double cab). But the cab space in the Tundra wasn't as usable owing to the flip and tumble seats and the 2500's were not in my price range and over kill for my needs.

Anyway, I grew up under the Corvette flag so I'm still a GM guy at heart when it comes to some things. Also, all the full size trucks have gotten ridiculously big. I wouldn't want this thing if I lived, worked or even had to park in a city with any frequency.

I have E36 Vader chairs in the front and they make access and use of the rear seat sort of a joke. The 4 door mandate comes more from the wife than anywhere else but the V8/towing/hauling/must-have-a-bed/replacement for my current beater is all me :)
