New 87 325is Picked up yesterday

    Update:

Bumping this to set up a DFW meet soon. Maybe Pappas BBQ at Stemmons and NW Hwy?

Hit me back Bimmerista!!!! And others in Dallas area.

ust picked up this 325is. 200+k, black on black, LSD 3.93, 5 MT. Came with 14" weaves, fair interior, battery top storage bin (optional), 4 matching Yokos with 40% left. New Bilstein HDs but old springs, so no drop dammit!

Has some hail damage ( pimples ) on roof, worse on hood, rear deck Scwhartz is faded, but no dents of other problems with body. Missing rear apron entirely though, and the front (someone tell me what front bumper/lip this is, is this a Mtech? or what, its not the usual is lip)

Car pulls HARD! Some clutch or diff chatter, cant tell which yet. Some very mild erratic idle but not bad. Pretty smooth actually
edit: the chatter is a half shaft/ CV joint - anyone give me a clue on how hard this is to fix as DIY?

PO just installed Bosch Silber plugs, I would prefer copper core NGKs anyone argre this could be a source of not a totally smooth idle?

Magnaflow cat back exhaust, wheels are pretty straight, but dirty still in the pics. I need to paint that crappy "gold" window gasket trim. Anyone tell me a good product for that. I bought some Duplicoat adhesive promotor and Duplicoat black for imports paint, looks semi gloss, not flat. Will this work alright?

Going to change oil and suspect the rear seal might be leaking. Im thinking of using Rotella 15-40wt and a Bosch filter ( from Autozone) any opinions on that, to run a thicker oil to slow down any leaking, until I can replace the seals? Anyone do this?

Other issues but not big ones, one low beam headlight is out, fog is cracked but still working.

Suggestions, comments and even critisisms appreciated.

Not bad at all. And for the price, quite decent my friend. As far as the front goes, looks like the early model front lip/valance.

nice pickup. Thats a stock IS front spoiler, and the rear apron isnt missing. Early E30 never came with a stock rear apron.

If your talking about the front and rear windshield gaskets, you can use a paint pen that does a good job. I think you can pick em up from walmart. For oil, I am partial to 20-50w but everyone has their preference. Car looks like a great start for modding, always good to start with something stock and complete.

I do still have the Calypso its in the shop having a butt load of rear end work done, including rear bearings.

Ah so I can put rear apron on though right? Looking for a Zender or BBS rear apron. I have some high end BBS side skirts.

Magnaflow sounds pretty damn awesome. Loud a bit, compared to the Bosai on my Calypso 325i. I like it though, sounds pretty bad ass when I punch it in 2 to 3 and winding out 3rd gear.

Paint pen will work on the plastic strip? Really...

are you still in Plano ? I have always wanted to hear one of those Magnaflow exhausts in person. I love how it sounds on clips online.

We should meet up his OP's convenience and hear how it sounds. I'm curious as well. :D
