some of you may remember my black euro E28 that was totalled less than a month after buying it. it was declared a total loss, after a woman ran a stop sign, hitting the passenger front fender, and thus bending the frame.

    before:

    after:

i was issued a check from the insurance co for a little over what i paid for the car, due to 2 solid appraisals from two separate independent companies.
i was able to buy it back from the insurance company for 1000 bucks, and salvage a great deal of the car.

    wheels/tires
    doors
    suspension
    trans
    engine
    fender flares
    lip spoiler
    deck lid spoiler
    interior
    rear bumper
    etc etc.

i then purchased a seemingly clean and solid E28 from a guy in san diego. i bought it sight unseen, due to several stellar testimonials by members of mye28.com, about how amazing the car was in person.

when it arrived, i was less than thrilled about it's condition, not being even CLOSE to how nice it was described. i could go on and on, with a pretty long list of stuff that needed to be addressed, but i'll spare you that for now, and get to the good stuff.

90% of the work put into righting the wrongs was by my friend Brent Kemi, who logged countless hours over the last 3 weeks.

    thus far, we've:

straightened the rear valance (it was wavy as fuck)
relocated the exhaust a bit more centered on the car
fabbed a neat reveal for the exhaust tips to exit the valance (without banging against the car)
got rid of the factory seams on the rear valance corners
straightened the front valance. it was ROUGH
welded shut the holes from the "euro conversion" that were previously just taped and mudded over.
repainted everything from the bumpers down, front and rear
installed a freshly rebuilt set of euro headlights
blacked out the license plate panel
removed and refinished all body trim
added mtech decklid spoiler (probably 10 hrs into refinishing it alone)
    replace rear bumper
    straighten front bumper
    buff and wax exterior
    installed style 5s. 18" staggered. 18x8, 18x9 235/40/18 and 265/35/18
    big brakes (e34)
    stainless brake lines
    front and rear strut bars

there's still some stuff we're working out, and a few fixes needed, but it's come a LONG way in the last 3 weeks.

    more pics to come soon...

To be honest, the black one is hotter. BUT, I am really sorry for your loss and the white one still really looks good. I'm a sucker for clean black cars though.

i agree... but, the paint work on the black car sucked balls.

Nice, but I'm not a fan of the rear plate filler, honestly. I would give a testicle for the rest of it, however.

Shame that EU spec car was hot, one of the cleaner cars out there. Did I spy an E12 535i in the background?
