to be honest in austria there is a slim to none chance to legalize swaps like this. you need certificates from bmw for the chassis, that it holds the stress from the new engine....thants point 1 where 90% of the swaps turn into illegal projects.
and if i could make it legal it would cost something in a range of a mint euro M3 ... so no way its going to be legal
i risk a lot if i drive it without "registration" of the parts. it costs a lot for example its about 300€ just to let them write your new tire size and suspension setup into your car papers. and you have to have minimum 11cm ground clearance .... at the moment i have 7-8cm max so there is one point where they can take my licence plates off of my car...
austria is a land for non tuners. i could register maybe my zender wing and MAYBE the compomotives IF i find a certificate for E30 (small chance), my suspension setup is impossible to be registered, seats depend on the guy from the tüv, steering wheel ... my deep corn replica NO WAY ... my momo ... maybe...etc
i'm going to risk it. in worst case i could end up in prison for betraying my insurance with the using of the stronger engine. germany isn't that strict for some things but austria sucks ballsComment

Yea, because I heard it's not that much of a problem to legalize it in De.
Here in the Czech Rep. it's the same, no way to get the M50 in the papers.
But what about the Wörthersee VW meets. Do the cops just tolerate it for one day? Beautiful place btw, I was there on vacation last year.
If you ever want to have a nice track day, come up to Brno (Brünn), its only 20€ for a half hour on the huge track :)Comment

wörthersee is like a lottery win for the police here. they make every year new records in collected fees or taken licence plates. i think its the love to cars that keeps stuff like the worthersee aliveComment
