    my 1984 318i

1984 BMW 318i - 1.8l EFI l4 ,108k miles, 5 speed manual gearbox, rwd, 25-30mpg, maybe 60hp, bavauto coils drop 1.5" front and 2" rear, koni shocks, blacked out stock 14" bottlecap wheels, e28 mtech2 wing, tucked bumpers, blacked out front grill, blacked out tail and sidemarker lights, power windows, power mirrors, two-way manual sunroof. Car was bought locally at Tom Bush BMW 1/84. Complete maint records since new.

Bought it for $700, previous owner thought the car had a blown head gasket (but was actually a bad freeze plug), pulled the head, cylinder walls still had good crosshatching, threw new head/intakemanifold/exhaustmanifold gaskets on, new plugs/wires, new rotor, coolant flush, oil change. Runs like a champ. Depowered the stock rack and love it, removed the "needs to be recharged" a/c. Removed condensor and fabbed brackets to keep fan (on a switch),

    plans:
LQ9, ported ls6 intake manifold, ported ls6 heads, ls6 cam, longtubes, built 4l80e tranny w/ 3000rpm stall, 9" ford liveaxle rear
reinforced front and rear sway bars
e36 steering rack with 5mm spacers
    diamond racing 14x8 or 15x9 (or maybe some 15x8 sportmaxx's) w/ nitto nt555s
    relocate battery to trunk

Welcome to the E30 world. Looks like you have a good body to start with, may I suggest an engine swap though. M10's are FTL.

I have a V8 that I was building to put in the Miata. 6.0l GM LSx based iron block, ported LS2 intake, 90mm throttlebody, ls6 cam, ported ls6 heads, strange ford 9" rear, t56 (6speed manual tranny). Forged internals and turbo possible someday. Im not sure if im going to put it in the e30, but im considering it.

Euro bumpers will set you back quite a bit, but are MORE than worth it for a clean look. Same with the matching valence. The early early stuff is easier to find as well, and make work.

          Good luck.

Looks good. I agree, needs euro bumpers, perhaps black-painted to match your shadowline and black kidneys.
Unless there is something in the paint we can't see, it looks pretty nice as is (say what you want all you bronzit haters). Why not save the paint money and put it into stuff under the hood?

paint is only going to cost the cost of the paint. my buddy runs a gm performance shop/paint shop
