    New camera, new shots.

I got a new nikon d60 so new shots had to happen. I remember reading on here a while ago that peanut oil works great on plastics, so i gave it a try...AMAZING. It just works so well it's stupid, i threw the mother's back-to-black away. It worked the best on the grills, but also helped the aluminum trim and bumpers. Just a tip for db guys. :)

how much did you pay for the d60? (i'm wondering because the d3000 just replaced it)

and next time you take shots at night, use a tripod, ISO100, and a much longer shutter speed.

I used a tripod actually. I got mine for $550, which is a lot cheaper than they retail for since i got it at a military base PX (aberdeen proving grounds, md). That was the "kit" which included the nikkor lens.

I would say exposures are long enough.

The problem is there just isn't enough light on the car, especially being black. No matter how long you expose darkness it's still dark... realistically speaking.

OP, car needs more light on it. No external lighting at night is... tough!

the new d3000 is $600 with the kit lens. it has a few nice improvements over the D60 including larger LCD.

1/2 a second shutter at 1600ISO is just wrong, especially if he is using a tripod.
