    new non BMW

It's the wife's new car and I got her 84 528e (300k) to drive into the ground and then throw in the m20, ,
Yup, Honda Element, what can I say cheap 19k, AWD, good gas mileage (24), large, peepy (160hp), dependable engine v-tec chain driven. Yes I know that it is a giant box, oh well, like I said it is the wife's car I just get to help pay for it.

Not a bad useful little whip.

I have been looking at an xB just for something to tool around in that looks a little more tolerable than the Honda. The Element has the more useful interior though.
    Im now E30less.

A friend of mine at school last year had one. TONS of room inside. She could fit 4 people with ski/snowboard crap for a weekend trip with lots of space to spare. The backseat that slides waaaay back is a cool future. As is the rear moonroof combined with folding all the seats flat, creating a bed. Very pimp.

yeah it is quite big inside suprisingly big, for a good deal also, the only complaint I have is the RPM's in 5th at 80mph are 3950rpm wish it had a 6th gear, When the warranty runs I think I'll check and see if there is a 6spd, rsx tranny or something that can hook up to it. The final drive is 4.73 that is the reason for the high rpm. The versatility of the inside putting the seats on the wall and all the traveling ease made it a sure pick you me and the wife.

It probably needs to be that high in the powerband to get that brick up to 80 and hold it there easily.
I thought the same about my 164hp/3000lb Audi until I got it up to 140mph (~6200rpm) and travelled over 100mph for extended periods. 5th gear is spaced so that 90-125mph acceleration is pretty good just staying there in top gear. It doesn't have enough power to use an additional gear. I'd have to wait til 90mph or so to touch a 6th additional gear.

I like having good acceleration at 90mph without having to downshift. Driving in MA is like the fucking obstacle course in gym class. It's easier to just punch it than think about and then actually downshift sometimes.
