    Another free truck thread...

Acquired this truck a few months ago and have been driving it off and on for the time being, but there is a little story to go with it. This particular truck was stored outside of my dads shop for about 3-4 years. It was sitting on some Kraiger Mag wheels and was missing most of the interior, dashboard, etc. It ran, but only on 5 cylinders (out of the 6 ). Nice thing is that it had a lot of body work put into it and was repainted decent enough.

So about a month ago some assholes decide to steal the mag wheels off of it. At this point my dad just wants it out of the parking lot and proceeds into the glove box to see what is in there. What does he find?

    1. Title and bill of sale signed over from the original owner with no new owner assigned
    2. Keys to the truck.

So there you have it, that is how I acquired this truck. Now into the specs. Its a 1984 Chevrolet C10 Regular Cab Short Bed. Powering this beast is a 4.1 250 cubic inch Straight 6 with the wonderfully designed integral intake manifold and cylinder head. After a tuneup, some interior pieces and a decent CD Player and speakers, this truck is actually pretty nice. Came with the slat badge less grill too. I like it, but its blowing some blue smoke at startup and I think the Turbo 400 Tranny is starting to go. Other than it has been great. Drove it 250 miles and back w/out issues to New Hampshire, other than a belt breaking on the RR Tire.

    Onto the pics.

Sitting behind it is my dad's old boat. 1971 MFG 15' Runabout w/ an '81 Evinrude 55HP 2-stroke. I have fond memories of this from the late 90's when it was last registered. Hell its probably one of the first things I've driven.

Dude nice...at least you can use it to haul some of your crap around!

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

Cool your driving it now? Been looking for a truck for utility purposes. Thinking about settling on a Dodge Dakota R/T 5.9.

The E34 wagon usually does the trick, but this is nice for the larger stuff. Thanks man!

Yup, recently made a trek up to Center Sandwich, NH at the end of last month. The only issue now is vacuum leaks and the carb needs an adjustment/rebuild too. Damn thing still has all the emissions/smog crap! Don't know much about the 5.9s, but I can tell you the late 90's cummins diesels are pretty awesome. How much are the R/T 5.9s going for nowadays?

                :p Tee hee.

Thanks man, the deals are out there, just gotta know where to look. :P I really like the older 6.2 GM Diesels, those things are tanks. Slow, but damn near unstoppable.

DUDE what an awesome find!! that is my very favorite truck ever manufactured by man. I love the basic boxy bodystyle (heeyyyy.... kinda like an E30) and its mechanical simplicity. I had almost the exact same truck once. it was a 1984 Chevy Silverado shortbed, with a 350 V8 and some wicked exhaust. But i sold it.

So here is what i say to you: ditch the straight 6 and find some running 350 V8, slap on a cheap Edelbrock intake manifold and a Holley carb, and some long tube headers, and build a sweet dual exhaust with Flowmaster 40s, and ditch everything that has to do with emissions.

heck, that's what i would do.

EDIT: even better, get an old first gen 4-bolt main GM 350, rip it apart, buy a Trick Flow upper end kit (heads, cam, intake manifold, and all necessary parts) and rebuild it. Bam! a 450 hp 350 v8! and the first gen 350 is the absolute easiest engine to rebuild EVAR.

Damnit, so much for keeping it stock! :) Seriously, that sounds like an awesome idea. I plan on keeping the body rust free, so no driving it this winter. Maybe then I will start a little build....

Thanks. I really do like driving it, but it is just so much less refined than any of the BMWs I drive. Its still awesome though.

My favorite trucks of all time right there. I'd put a healthy drop on it, decent wheels and a craigslist 350 v8. Looks great even just stock though so your good to go whatever you do.

oh please don't. I hate lowered trucks. I also hate obscenely lifted trucks where the objective seems to be to do an oil change standing up.

Keep the current ride height, it looks great how it is.

                              here ya go: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-K314-500-450/

slap this on a rebuilt GM small block, and BAM! 500 horsepower! and i bet if you did an evil exhaust system like some glasspacks, aggressive Flowmasters or just straight pipes with this set-up you would get that nasty cool sound that those drag cars make when they idle, with the cams so wickedly radical that it sounds like the motor will stall out any second, but has Chuck Norris sized testicles, and when you punch the gas, that ear splitting staccato roar that snaps into the high frequency range almost faster than your ears can follow, and the snarling and popping descent as the RPMs coast back down to an idle when the gas it let off.... oh and the chicks.
