The Beginning

I bought a 1991 318is from a guy on craigslist about 2 weeks ago or so. The left front fender is rusted loose at the bottom and was damaged. The interior is kind of ripped apart. The engine seems to be fine. Someone robbed the IS lip of the deck lid and so the previous owner found a stupid ricer douple decker wing and bolted it to it and then someone broke that off. so there are a bunch of holes appoxied shut on the trunk lid. Yuck. The emblems are all missing and someone put stupid pin striped stickers on the hood and the trunk lid. The transmission was locked in reverse. So i brought it to my shop to see if i could take the tranny apart and see what i could find. What ever caused it to be locked in reverse made is so i could not seperate the two cases. So I said screw it and found a car that had a popped motor that was an 318i. Pretty much all good panels and drive train minus the engine. It has good interior with the original radio and has the glove box. The IS does not have those things. I ripped the tranny out of the parts car and im going to put it in the red car on thursday. Hopefully everything goes as planned.

Mine looked way worse when I got it. It's all about how much you want to put back in it - time and money that is. Luckily you have a parts car. Keep us posted, it's fun to watch a basketcase resurrected!

wow it had more then one spoiler and some try to make it faster with the stickers. lol i think its funny that only the IS is left. lol

So i got the tranny put in on thursday and i had to take it out and run throught the gears to see if they all worked and do grinding or poppin out. It was of course raining that day and i had to put it sideways around a corner to see how she ran. The shocks are shot but will be replacing sooner or later. I cut the exhaust off because it was rusty and not hanging anymore so i ran it with about 2 foot of pipe off of the header and it sounded like butthole. But i got a muffler for now to quiet it down a little. I need to run exhaust next weekend. The engine has a slight tick when its cold but when it warms up the tick goes away. I have 5w-30 in it and need to put something else in it. any suggestions? I will post some pics sooner or later. I put the trunk lid from the i on it and robbed everything i could get out of the it and sent it to the scrap yard sadly. But i need to put the fender on this weekend also. Besides the tick in the motor it runs hard. I believe it has 4:10 gears/Posi! Did a monsterous burnout today and went drifting for awhile. I love this car!
