After luke put in the fantastic stereo system in the convertible, with nice amp racks and cool carpeting, the inside of the trunk lid was starting to look very bland. It had the big toolkit from a 635csi, but the bare metal lid just didn't look good next to all the nice carpeting. So, with my new employee discount at the dealership I bought the trunk lid trim.

It was nice, but the gray vinyl looked cheap next to all the carpet. So, off it came:

Next, I bought some more of the same dark gray carpet that Luke used and got ready to lay it up:

Using anything I can find to clamp down the carpet as the spray adhesive dries:

Next it was time to trim the extra, fold over the edges and glue them. I didn't take any pictures of this, it was pretty damn boring. It actually took about 3 or 4 days to do all the clamping. I didn't have enough claps and weights to do it all at once, and often times spaces were too tight to clamp it all at once.

Anyways, after a few days it came out looking like this:

Next I painted the tool kit black to better match the carpet:

And now it's all installed. I love the way it looks! It really sets off the trunk and makes it all look complete. Total cost was about $75 I think, very worth it IMO.

The pictures suck, i'll try and take some during the day time w/o flash to better show it off.
