    its been done b4

i know many people do the m50....but mine is in and running and im pretty excited, my roomate who is on here, is a beast and helped with everything so far everything on it is new, thermostat, water pump, all new gaskets, radiator, ect it has a conforti chip...car used to be an m10...so its going to be a huuuuuuuuuuuge upgrade......im worried about brakes, i have the m20 front brakes...but in the back im stuck with drums, anyone have any ideas so i dont have to swap trailing arms ?

    Find yourself a wrecked 318ti...

And grab the rear trailing arm/brake assemblies, get some M3 struts for the front, and do a five-lug swap!:)

You should be fine. I think there's another guy here who uses rear drums on his M50 swapped car.

You have to swap rear trailing arms if you want rear discs. No two ways about it.

Congrats on the swap! M50 is still a very nice motor.

it shouldnt be that hard to swap in later model 4 lug rears.

you could always run a more aggressive pads. do you have stainless lines?

because you have to swap the trailing arms to go to disc brakes on a 318i from 84-85

like fred said, theres no two ways about it.

Try to find complete trailing arms with cables and all.
