The E30-LS1 was featured in the Monday 12-07-09 "Piston Slap" column:

Nice props, but it was amazing how the comments went off into the weeds!

Steve from Seattle writes:As regularly mentioned on Piston Slap, the LS-X engines are the best in the world for their compact size, low weight, simplicity, reliability, cost and ability to make more power with simple bolt-ons. So I wanted to share my project to TTAC’s readers: we put a ’99 LS-1 and T56 into our BMW E30. Everything works, A/C, cruise control, etc. Seriously. It’s a sleeper, except for the “357i” numbers on the trunk (nice of BMW to make a…

Looks like I'll be buying myself a secret Christmas present. I'm glad to see you guys documented all the work/fab/drawings.

Should help make this a popular swap.

                              Sweet.
I love the bump of a project thread without any new information.

If you want to sell your CD, put it in the retail forum.

I printed out your entire document (yeouch) and took it, in a folder, to a signatory* who has pretty much given the green light to everything I wanted to do (including gut interior, cut spare tyre well off, Nissan R200 diff conversion, move fuse box, 5-lug, bigger brakes from an HSV Clubsport, half-cage, welded-in rear suspension/diff/tower brace, fuel surge tank, etc) and said it was the most comprehensive document he's ever seen and the best.

The CD is definitely worth the money if you have to go through the crap we do to get halfway interesting cars on the road.

*In Australia, if we want something like a 5-lugged, LSx-powered E30 to be registered on the road, we have to get all the plans signed off by an accredited engineer and then signed off when the project is complete. When we then go to register it for road use, it makes it easier to get through - though I might still need to do a tailpipe emissions test, ride height test, etc.
