    Home Sweet Home

My 'vert's home for the next few months as we prepare for winter in New England: a detached 2-car garage on my property.

    Needs work, I know.

Looks like enough space. As long as it's heated, could be a nice winter project shop.

It is dropped! Look along the left side: it's actually cut back into the lot at about four feet high. My garage has a four-foot drop!

This garage was a huge pos for awhile, my neighbor said no one did anything to it except pile shit in it for 28 years. I rented a 15-yard dumpster last spring and cleared it out. It does have a small wood stove and brick chimney, and with all the broken windows now fixed, it should be fairly comfortable. The best thing is that it's detached from the house, making it less likely for my wife to nag my ass out here. She calls it my clubhouse. I call it awesome.

That's awesome, love those old detached garages like that, so oldschool. Someday I will have one.

Here it is from the yard side, before I finished fixing the broken windows. You can see how it's cut into the yard, circa 1950.

You should take out the second floor and install a lift.

I have a nice couch set up there as a lounge. I plan to run cable, boost the electric to better than the current anemic 25A, and slap some more lighting init. Shit, my old lady will never see me on the weekends!
