My $300 e30 and an intro

    hi r3vlimited

a few weeks ago i picked up a 4 door 86 325 with an eta... for $300. it is a dark brown metallic (can't remember the color name)

it has 210,000 km, and is in great shape for an e30, not very rusty, engine is damn clean, however it does not run, oh well, it's not seized or anything. interior is vinyl sport seats in great shape too.

the wheels are some sort of enkei, and are ugly, they are already sold.

But what's a project car for, i am pretty sure it has a bad battery and a dead starter, so if anyone has a good eta starter for sale, i'd be more than interested.

it is a great little car, i love the shape, the lines, the seats, everything, just gotta get it running and enjoy it. it's purpose in life is to wear cool wheels and be as low to the ground as possible!

for good measure, the daily (which i hate, i miss my s4 sooo much)

    happy holidays!

what's wrong with those Enkei wheels? just drop the car on some H&R Race springs and it will look great!

Nah the enkei's just aren't to my tastes for the car, I have imagined some very wide and low offset wheels and the enkei's just don't do it for me

bump this one up for some questions, yes i've been searching constantly

the car has a no Crank condition. i did find out the battery was toast, it has been replaced with a new one

now the e30 has me confused, what are the things that could cause a no crank?
                  - bad relay? which relay could cause this?
                  - bad fuse? which fuse, is it #10? i will replace this anyways
                  - does an 86 325 have a clutch cut-off switch?
                  - the starter could be busted of course, which i have guessed since i got it

another odd one, when i put the new battery in and turned the key, the power windows also didn't work. they did work before i removed the old battery, albeit only briefly as the battery was shot.

i did remove the black/yellow wire off the starter, but i reconnected it.

oh fun fun, any thoughts? or at least a good order to test these things in to save me some time and heartache?

you can find an electrical troubleshooting guide online, but i don't remember where exactly. i'm pretty sure it was in this forum, because this is the only one i'm a member of and i remember posting a thanks about it.

                        - bad relay? which relay could cause this?
doesn't look like there is one directly involved.
                        - bad fuse? which fuse, is it #10? i will replace this anyways
again, doesn't look directly involved. but fuses are cheap so what the hell.
                        - does an 86 325 have a clutch cut-off switch?
my 87 eta does not, and i'm pretty sure it wasn't modified by the po
                        - the starter could be busted of course
do you have a multimeter or a test light? make sure the big starter cable has 12v. that particular wire should be an almost direct shot to the starter, it draws to much current to be otherwise. if the big wire has power, put the key in run, and jump power to the black/yellow wire, that should activate the starter. if that works, i think you probably have a wiring issue.

i have a 325, no "e" is in the title. it is an eta model though, vinyl tan sport seats and houndstooth door cards.

i believe it is the base model for that year
