    New to the E30 world!

I usually hang over at Volvospeed.com, but since I finally picked up a project car, which was between any 3 series, 240sx or volvo... e30 won!

1984 318i, in... GASP... SafariBeige(is this color rare?)! $400 and drove home with a full tank of gas!

dirtyness. Since I don't have insurance or tags, I'm still gonna have to wait a little while before I can really clean this up.

Whatever seats these are... They're cloth. Voltmeter(lol) and oil press in the center console. It needs a sender for the oilpressure gauge.

My plans for it are pretty simple. I'm thinking track car and auto-x. Both mainly for fun, nothing serious. turbo far down the road, and a rear end at that point to handle the traction issues.

    Known issues:
    -Alternator is going
-No A/C (which will be deleted sometime anyway.)
    -interior issues (door handle, seats...)
    -No tail lights
    -Broken right rear taillight
    -No reverse lights
    -Diving boards

i have a project log going at http://e30log.blogspot.com

So I have a few questions right off the bat...
    1) Can valves be out of adjustment so bad that it affects compression?
    2) Any success with S-AFC on these cars with l-jet? I have 315cc injectors...

I think that's about it. I'm gonna go back to troll--i mean lurking, and not posting up pictures of the car until it looks a bit better. :)

    Oh the '84 318i...

Nice find, I like that color. If you want to have fun though, do the suspension and swap the motor to something bigger. The m10 is pretty gutless in anything besides the 2002 but a fresh M20 or something with more then 2 valves per cylinder would make that thing fun as hell on the track...

Most likely, probably out of an E21 but without a full pic it's hard to know.

werd. Not in it for the mad power, but if I can pull 1G+ in a corner, I'll be happy. :P

Thanks. It'll be cleaned up soon, hopefully I get a few days of warm weather soon.

Thanks. I'll get better pictures of the seat soon. Still not sure how I feel about the color, but I might as well like it!

Suggestions on how to handle the rust on the front/rear windshield seals?

Should my trunk have a lot of moisture on the inside after a cold night? Or does this mean I have a failed trunk/taillight gasket?

Also check the backs of the wheel wells, they're prone to rot and can let moisture in.

As for 1G+, it's doable but can be spendy to do it right. H&R Race springs/Bilstein Sports will probably be your best option off the bat but be sure to address all the bushings and such as well. Coilovers are the next step up and if you're looking to do it right from the start that may be a course of action if your budget allows. I was very happy with my GC coilovers, aluminum subframe mounts and M3 front CABs but on my new build I'll probably go with something more like the Treehouse eyeball CAB for some more stiffness still. Wheels and tires will be crucial too but even on 215 Azenis I was able to get my G-Tech to read 1G around turn 3 at NHMS...

                Good luck!

Nice, and i like the color. They're just fadded/burnt from exposer to the weather. You could just paint them black, or go to a junk yard and get a set of black ones off of a 1988+ e30, or just buy new chrome ones. Personaly id buy the chrome ones, but i really like chrome.
