End of the year color change

Merry Christmas everyone and a happy new year. Just wanted to share some pics of my recently painted 1991 318is. Originally purchased as silver stock everything with exception of head unit. After about two months this is how she currently sits. Still have plans to continue changing it up. Anyways the color is metallic black with pearl gold flakes. After the paint was layed down it looks very similar to Diamond Schwarz metallic black.

Thankfully the body only had a few minor dings so prepping the car was very easy. took us about a day to prep everything.....We rented out a booth and sprayed for about 4 hours and left it overnight. Unfortunately it was a very windy day so we have some wet sanding and color polishing to do. These are the pics I have thus far. Once we finish wet sanding I will post a few more. Enjoy and happy holidays. Let me know what you guys think.

    changes made to date:
    -new fuel pump and filter
    -new air filter
    - fresh oil and oil filter
    - changed wiper blades
    - replaced sealed rear windows for pop out windows off my old 325e
    - new valve colver seal
    - wrinkle finished valve cover
    - replaced oil housing seal
    - replaced tan interior panels to black
    - sprayed old stained tan carpet to flat black
    - removed hideous tint
    - blacked out grill
    - new spark plugs and wires
    - painted tan rear speaker panel to flat black
    -lowered car
    -replaced rotted out muffler
    - added auto bahn wheels ( still need to change tall rubber for lower profile)
    - added yakima roof rack with bike mounts

I will probably drive it as is for now until the paint is fully cured and baked in. We just need some sunshine around here. It has been really cold. Lol I couldnt wait so I assembled the car back together in a day and been driving it as is. Hopefully I can start wet sanding after new years....

sorry for the crappy pictures. will take some more after wet sanding...

Thank god. I was scrolling down and as soon as I saw the flat black I was about to cry, but very nice finishing color. I personally think this and lachs silber are the nicest on e30's.

Car looks great. What wheels are those? Look like Enkei 92.

Welcome to schwarz. Gorgeous wheel choice too.

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

S&E30 the wheels are autobahns. Apperently the wheels are pretty rare in the 4X100 lug pattern as well as the +10 offsets. A friend of mine has enkei 92s but the lips are not as wide. Not sure but the wheels are old school and fairly light weight :)

This was my first attempt at spraying a car so overall I am pleased with the results. I did learn a lot from this experience. I use to custom paint with an airbrush but that was on 10th scale cars with lexan shells so maybe that helped a bit.

Did you paint the door sills, or the trunk?

The car looks much better than before.
