Another rescued e30 going to the fires of the track.

Bought the chassis from a guy who had it for a couple of years with the idea of turning it into a track car. He needed the money so I picked it up and started my own project.
I have completely gutted it and the block and head are going to the machine shop on monday.

    The flicker page...

    Here are a few pics.

Here is what I plan for it to look like finished...

...here are a few more progress pics..

    The sunroof welded in.

    The engine coming out.

Rear subframe after painting. What a PAIN to remove!

    The disassembled engine.

    More too come...

Not too hard....just used 1/8 x 1/2" steel as a spacer and tacked it in every 1"

I also cut out the old sunroof frame/channel with a plasma cutter.

nice. In your pshop photo you should have smaller tires and no rear mudflaps.

I was actually going to say, keep them if it's a track car. Looks mean.

Nice shots so far. What made this chassis particularly track worthy? Looked pretty damn clean.

The car was in OK shape, but there was no rust to be found when purchasing and I have only found one small rust hole in the trunk now that it has been stripped.

Also, he was selling the car with $3000+ in track parts and many extras for 3k. He was just too busy to actually start the project. His loss, my gain.

On an update note....the engine went to the machine shop today and the suspension is going back on and the engine bay is cleaned up.

The engine block is held up in the machine shop so I did some more tear down this afternoon.

Tomorrow I pull out all the vestigial wiring.
