well sealing the deal on her now 300 for her 1989 325i auto new timing belt water and head gasket. the guy says it stumbles at idle so idk. Have not drove it yet so might part it out or fix her. so we will see. this is #5 my wife is gonna kill me.

Not bad looking for $300. You could easily get more money if you clean it up and fix the idle problem.

Like most autos, they like to be warmed up before a drive. I have not heard of many failing.

The last go around of e30 hunting I saw at least three cars in the same shape being sold for 2.5-4k

I bought my autotragic heap with paint damage for 1000. But that was a different economy and oddly the northwest has a lot of e30's and a higher entry cost. Good deal indeed. I think my camber plates cost more than that.
