So on Monday at about 8am I was fooling around on CL and found this:
A 1984 VW Rabbit GTI

It was up for $950, I was able to talk him down a fair amount, so I had to buy it. Just too good of a deal and too cool of a car not to restore it. The guy who sold it to me was totally awesome. He immediatly took the ad of CL when we drove up to see it Monday night. He needed to do some paperwork on it and got that done super quick. All in all probably the best sellier i have ever dealt with. He wanted to keep it, but he had way too many projects on his plate. Like any car under a grand, it has some problems,
The good news is this, the car has NO rust anywhere! Everything works inside, and it started right up when I put the new battery in it. The suspension is in really good shape, the tranny is smooth, and all the trim peices and GTI "stuff" come with it all in great condition. It even has the original rabbit floormats.
The wrecker dropped it off on Saturday night and i started stripping the motor down today. i hope to have a new motor in it by the end of next week, but we will see. i will keep you guys posted on the build.

- The paint is faded on the hood and the hatch, not too bad, but noticable.
- The interior is pretty rough. The carpet is really nice and the car does not leak, the seats and dash need some tlc.
- The motor has a spun bearing. It is screwed. It really isn't even drivable.
- The rims are a 7 out of 10.
