I used Dupli Color Vinyle/Fabric Paint. After each coat and subsequent dry time (around 20-30 minutes) I took a stiff brush (Home Depot deck scrubber or something similar) and brushed in nearly every direction. Then I vacuumed the carpet. Re-coat after all that and repeat. After I got the coverage I wanted, I spent (credit to the DIY article here on r3v for this tip) around 20 minutes just walked on it in my socks. Really "plushed" up the carpet and the color fastness rocks. Even under the floor mats I have it's still not showing the charcoal through. I'll give you a report on black painted tan carpet that I'm doing for a buddy out of my parts car. Let you know how it wears once installed.

If so, you passed my house.
That was me. I was up there looking at a '86 535i. Heh, when I got there the battery was dead and the car died 4 times on the test drive. I walked away from that one ;)

Exactly. Was mostly taking a look at the potential for a swap engine after I beat the body into the ground with "beater duties". But despite the fact that the car failed to start and died 4 times the seller was adamant that his car was worth every penny to the tune of $1,450. It had obviously been in an accident and had the frame "repaired" and the welds were splitting.

Ah well. The hunt and slow saving for a 4 door continues

All thanks to you, sir! :D My wife was thrilled by it even though she was a bit on the fence originally. Here's it finished right before install:

Ha! Tell me about it... I should have worked the one that was mounted originally on my car into the deal with the previous owner. Specially for what I ended up paying for it. Live and learn!

I got 'em ;) I've been putting off re-spraying the wheels. They don't match in color at all. Trying to decide if I want to garage refurbish or pay to have them professionally done up. Until just recently, I was thinking about a polished lip, but 'eh... a bit much IMO.

I'd be game. Although I believe there's "Coffee and Cars" in Tacoma at a cafe of some sorts every Weds... I always have a hard time swinging the 7pm meet time though. That's right around bed time for the baby :)
