    Went to get Batteries... HELP!!

So went to go get some AA batteries for my mouse, and 1/2 an hour later I am standing in the cold and rain trying to figure out how the hell im going to get my car home.

Im going to keep this simple; just the facts.

Hard shift from 2nd to 3rd.

Transmission did not go into 3rd gear.(LOTS of r3vlimiter)

Shifter has felt extremely loose since I have had the car.

Has had issues going into third.(But it might just be im not used to my new clutch stop.

    Clutch will engage and disengage.

Transmission is stuck in reverse.(moved the shifter around, and it happen to get stuck there)

car starts, and it runs fine. Can move in reverse.

I can feel no gates or any signs of gears.

    1987 325is Getrag 5 speed.

So either the shift Linkage is F'd, or the transmission imploded.

I need help figuring this out, and then also sourcing parts ASAP.

I have money, beer, and a pretty good collection of parts in exchange for any help or parts.Minus transmission stuff.

Also need to know, is if I can use any of the stuff off of my 85' 318i 5 speed.

So please anyone in Great PNW, please help.

for those still reading, the reason for the hard shift and lots of R3ving is I was racing my friend in His 89 alfa romeo milano. See picture below.

LOL. EXACT SAME THING happened to me a few weeks ago. Is your shifter still confined to the limits of the shift pattern or does it go everywhere, rotating any direction? Something tells me it's the former, your selector fork just broke, you need a new trans. :(

It was in neutral but you put it in reverse trying to shift around, right? If it helps, you should be able to get it in neutral if you force the shifter into the reverse position again (try a few different ways until it goes) and then pull it back towards you. Worked for me.

Uhh, check the bitch clip I guess (which is what 25111221849 is) but what you described was what happened to me down to a T, on the 2-3 shift it felt like the shifter went into gear but it was in neutral, shift gates didn't exist but it went into and out of reverse if I forced it. The bitch clip is fine, shift tower is still connected and the trans is half out of the car at the moment. Check the linkage, but my money's on the trans.

i'd say put it on jacks, see what is obviously wrong. Try to stick it in 2nd and drive it home

Well, just got it up on jacks, and the shift linkage is fully connected. I can not see any major problems, and well Fuck My Life.
