It's time to prepare the summer rims. (E39 content)

The snow is starting to melt and it's time to prepare the summer rims.
When I bought my new daily driver (BMW 530DAT) this winter I also got a set of Rondell D58.
Near every E39 in Norway runs these wheels and therfore i don't like them.
Since it's a daily driver, I didn't want to spent so much money and went to buy some paint instead of buying new rims.

Step 1. Remove the damaged clearcoat from the dish with paint remover and a high pressure washer.

Step 2. Sand the surface and mask.

    Step 3. Paint it.

At the moment im waiting for the first layer of clear coat to dry and hopefully I can try them on the car tomorrow. :)

I can't see any reason that the paint should be damaged. I use 2k paint so the result should last.

I bought a set of Apina rims once. They were painted white with 2k when i got them. I used them a year without any paint defects before i got them powdercoated in the original silver color.

Interesting colour, very unique from what I've seen.

I read somewhere that powder coating your rims is not a good idea?

It's somewhere between orange and gold.

I tested two of them on the car. Its a little more orange on the pictures then in real life. The color is not so dark irl.

From one squarehead to another: why did you paint those sharp looking wheels?

                        I would've painted them gold/yellow to match the headlights/fogs.
But I think you can save it if you reinstall oem amber turnsignals and oem headlights/fogs so that they're not yellow.

I'm going to go out of the norm and agree with Zac here! That's bad ass. A bit orange as I would have gone a bit more bronze, but bad ass none the less, man!
