Been running DDM's 55w kit for nearly a year now and haven't had a single issue with scorching. Bosch euro ellips w/clear lamin-x.

I really don't want to destroy the expensive ellipsoids I just ordered, but it'd be nice knowing that I can protect my "investment" while driving.

Even if they will "scorch," will it ruin/yellow up the glass?
    Read above...

You shouldnt, it took nearly 4 years with mine, and I never used carnuba wax on them as they suggest. If I maintained them properly, I doubt they would have burned.

I would love to get brand new Smilies. Your lucky.

BTW laminex does NOT protect against breakage. It just protects against chipping and minimizing damage in the event that a big enough piece of debri hits the lense, laminex prevents the glass from flying everywhere.

You better buy the 3M protective film from www.bavauto.com, it will protect those precious babies from rocks jumping up.

I will be getting them soon.

i bought the bavauto ones back before i knew any better. i have more recently bought the lamin x ones and they had much darker tint (which i was after), they were thicker and i think they cost about half as much.

So, a set of startecs and brand new smoked smilies within a couple weeks? I think you just shot a BIG hole through one of your negotiating tactics...haha! At least you're not skimping on throwing some $$ at your M3.

Well I don't mind paying full price for something that is BRAND NEW! I'm sure no one does if you know there is nothing wrong with the product... I was trying to have you lower the price because there was a CRACK on one of them. Its only fair to drop the price reasonably. Also you can tell that the small piece was glued back together. I know there rare and hard to find in good condition but the fact of the matter is I'm doing what I can with money I have.... I'm only 19 and I don't make a lot of money. So I was hoping you could hook me up. But you really didn't. I knew I was going to purchase them because you did drive to get to me. So I didn't feel like wasting your time. For future sales don't put such a high price(On something that is broken)...

                          Thanks,
                          Randy

Come on man. 50watt HIDs will produce less heat than 55watt halogens. The whole point of HIDs is that they're more efficient watt-per-watt than halogens. That means, more light and less heat per watt.
